A Mindful Way To Emotional Well-Being
An 8 Week Group led by
John Weaver, Psy.D.
Director of The Healthy Thinking Initiative
The practice of Mindfulness involves paying attention in a particular way:
On purpose
In the present moment
And without judgment
This group will teach skills for growing in emotional wellbeing by using mindfulness practices. The eight week group will introduce participants to these powerful techniques that are built on evidence-based, proven strategies.
Participants will be asked to engage in a weekly (for 8 weeks) two hour group and to practice daily mindfulness meditations that will be taught during the group.
Research has shown that 40% of those who are willing to learn and apply the practice of mindfulness to manage the symptoms of depression have been able to successfully eliminate their anti-depressant medications without relapsing for more than five years. There is a substantial amount of other research that demonstrates that mindfulness is beneficial for better outcomes in many types of psychological distress.
